Decks & fencing · Auckland

Deck and fence builders in Auckland

New and replacement decks, fencing and gates across Auckland, including sloping sites and properties with difficult access. We take on full deck and fence projects - standalone, or as part of a larger renovation. Small repairs are usually better suited to a handyman than to us.

New and replacement decks

Most deck failures start underneath. We build the substructure to suit the ground and the height, then finish it so the visible parts line up.

  • Removal and disposal of an existing deck
  • Piles, bearers and joists sized for height and span
  • Timber and composite decking
  • Stairs, balustrades and handrails to code
  • Decks at floor level, including door and threshold work

Fencing and gates

Boundary and privacy fencing, built to a straight line on ground that is rarely straight. Where a fence is shared, we will tell you what usually needs agreeing with the neighbour first.

  • Timber paling, board-and-batten and slat fencing
  • Pedestrian and vehicle gates, including sliding gates
  • Fencing over undulating or sloping ground
  • Fencing on top of new or existing retaining
  • Removal and disposal of the old fence

What we assess on site

Area, length and height

Height above ground changes the structure, the barrier requirement and often whether consent applies.

Ground conditions

Clay, fill and slope all affect how the piles or posts go in.

Access

Whether we can get a machine to the work, or whether everything is carried by hand.

Demolition and disposal

What is coming out, and what condition the substructure underneath turns out to be in.

Materials and finish

Timber grade, composite systems, stain or oil, and hardware specification.

Consent and engineering

Higher decks, decks attached to the house and some retaining interfaces need approval or specific design.

Outdoor projects that cross over

A deck often needs retaining first. A fence often follows a new driveway. Where the pieces interact, doing them as one project means the levels, drainage and finished lines actually resolve.

Deck and fencing questions

What deck and fence projects do you take on?

Full decks and full fence runs, new or replacement, as standalone projects or as part of a wider build. Small repairs are usually better suited to a handyman.

Do you remove the old structure or fence?

Yes, demolition and disposal are normally included in the quote. We will tell you what we expect to find underneath and how that is handled if it turns out worse.

What materials do you work with?

Treated timber for structure, and timber or composite for the deck surface. For fencing, timber paling, board-and-batten and slat systems. We will talk through cost and maintenance for each.

Will I need consent?

Decks above a certain height above ground generally require building consent, and fences above a certain height can too. We will tell you what we think applies to your project.

Can you work on sloping or difficult-access sites?

Yes, and a lot of our outdoor work is exactly that. It affects the price, so it is one of the first things we look at on site.

How it works

1. Tell us about the project: Send details through the form or call us.

2. Site visit: We assess the ground, access and materials in person.

3. Quote prepared: Normally within around three to five business days of the visit.

Discuss your deck or fencing project

Rough dimensions and a couple of photos of the site are enough for us to start.
